So at the last minute I decided to do a little post on my Autumn essentials. Any excuse for a flatlay hey? I feel like such a blogger haha if only I had a photo of me standing over the items with my legs spread, so sophisticated. There are numerous things that spring to mind when I think of Autumn. The days are getting shorter and cooler and for me this means more cosy nights in under the duvet watching Friends or crisp Sunday mornings strolling through the forest with a flask of tea in hand, wearing cute fingerless gloves and admiring all the warm colors around me. And then of course, pausing to take that irresistible (and obligatory) “Hello Autumn”- boots in a pile of leaves-Instagram pic. You know you are guilty too!

Since spending most of my time in the company of my American co-workers, I have learned a lot about Autumn (or Fall as they prefer to call it). For them it’s the season of Halloween, candy corn, Thanksgiving (turkey time!), and the famous pumpkin spiced lattes from Starbucks, which they reportedly sell more than 20 million of each year! I have yet to try this ‘life-changing latte’, as it is not available in South Korea (yet) but I did get to try candy corn for the first time this week. After having my doubts, I can say that I understand what all the fuss is about… it tastes sooo good.

One makeup trend I absolutely love that pops up around Autumn, is dark berry toned lips. A classic red is good too, maybe even a slightly deeper tone than usual. I’ve only recently been brave enough to start wearing darker lips. It makes me feel all vampy and seductive. Try the shades Rebel, Smoked Purple or Diva from MAC. Alongside the lipsticks, I think soft golds and  browns or bronze on the eyes pair perfectly. You want your lips to do the talking! Then there’s my favorite nail color of the season: Marsala. A winey red-brown that adds warmth and sophistication to any outfit. This is a South African brand I brought with me from home called Essence and the color True Love. Style wise, the weather is perfect for rolled up skinny jeans with what I think should be the staple of the decade: ankle boots. During a recent retail therapy session at H&M, I stumbled upon this lightweight, star patterned knit which I adore! Next I popped in at Forever 21 and walked away with a pretty sweet polkadot button up shirt in baby blue and another lightweight sweater in block colors white and stone-grey with just a pop of turquoise on the cuffs. Okay so can you spot the theme here? I guess you can definitely tell that I’m going through a blue phase! Even though it is a cool color as opposed to the usual warmer orange, reds and browns associated with Autumn you can definitely still rock it this season by simply warming it up with gold and leather accessories and don’t forget those berry lips. When it comes to hair, I feel like loose braids are perfect for this time of year. The more effortless and imperfect they look the better. You want to add texture, but still keep it soft and feminine.

I hope you enjoyed my first attempt at a real “fashion and beauty” post. I am in no way an expert in this field, but I enjoy sharing my personal style, fashion opinions and beauty products I love with you guys. Let me know what you think and have fun experimenting!
